Based off the Smart Rating system, which measures a facility’s patient experience, staff communication skills and care outcome, the state’s top hospital is also Northwestern Memorial Hospital. The renowned institution received a score of 94 out of 100.
Another of the top Illinois hospitals is Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center, which US. News concluded was the state’s second best medical facility. The general medical and surgical hospital is a national leader in 11 medical specialties, including urology, gastroenterology, diabetes, and cardiology among others. The Rush University Medical Center also received an awe inspiring Smart Rating score of 94.
Another Chicago hospital that received an impressive Smart Rating of 94 is the University of Chicago Medical Center. The medical facility is ranked as the third best hospital in Illinois, and is nationally ranked in three medical fields including cancer, neurology, and gastroenterology.
Four of the nation’s top children’s hospitals are also located in Chicago: the Rush Children’s Hospital, Advocate of Children’s Hospital, University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital and the Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The latter is nationally ranked in ten different medical fields!
Oak Lawn Hospitals
Oak Lawn is a suburb of Chicago and is located to the southwest of the state’s northeast city. The community is also the location of one of Illinois’s top hospitals, the Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center.
The facility is considered to be a higher performer in ten medical fields and is nationally ranked for its work in cardiology and geriatrics. Advocate Christ Hospital and Medical Center also received an extremely impressive Smart Rating score of 93.
Urbana is located in the central eastern region of Illinois and is home to popular attractions like the Market at the Square, the Urbana Sweetcorn Festival and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Carle Foundation Hospital is also situated in Urbana, which is one of the best Illinois hospitals. The non-profit, acute care facility is a leading performer in eleven different medical specialties and is nationally ranked for its studies and work related to the ear, nose and throat. The Carle Foundation Hospital received an excellent Smart Rating score of 92.
Evanston is a suburb community that is located to the north of Chicago alongside Lake Michigan. The municipality is also the home of the highly regarded educational institution Northwestern University.
According to U.S. News, the Northshore Evanston Hospital is ranked as the fifth best medical facility in Illinois, due in part to the fact that it is a high performer in nine medical fields and national leader in two.
